Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with Tom Queba Memorial Fund, is inviting applications for the Tom Queba Scholarships for Social Change for master’s and doctoral students for the academic year 2022-2023.

This scholarship aims to provide funding for up to two years and an opportunity to enhance students’ academic and leadership skills through organized events. The applicants that undertake a master’s or doctoral programme will be considered eligible for this R85,000.

Canon Collins Trust supports African development by awarding postgraduate scholarships to outstanding individuals from southern Africa. Their vision is of a southern Africa whose people have the freedom and capabilities to shape their future.

Canon Collins Trust also supports community-based projects in southern Africa to increase access to education. The project partners share the commitment to education as a tool of empowerment. It reintegrates young school dropouts into the secondary school system, the Small Project Foundation, which trains community health workers in the Eastern Cape, and the Giyani Science and Careers Centre, which strengthens science and IT education for thousands of rural South African students.

    • The applicants must be black South African female nationals, normally residing in South Africa.
    • The applicants must be studying or applying to study at a master’s or doctoral level at a South African university.

    • How to Apply: The applicants must apply for admission to their desired South African university. Scholarship applications must be made online.
    • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
    • CV
    • Letter of recommendation
    • Personal statement
    • Academic transcripts
    • Admission essay
    • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or are about to graduate in the year of application.
    • Language Requirement: The students must meet the English language requirements of the South African University they wish to join.

    The winning students will be provided with a scholarship package of R85,000 for up to 2 years of study in their choice of a South African University.
